James Burton’s background in math and interests in acoustics form a more complete picture of his eloquent, understated drumming. Burton’s extended sound language helps form the basis of his duo with Nathan Hubbard, and that duos works extends into Nathan Hubbard Skeleton Key Orchestra, as well as several of the orchestras splinter groups - the Skeleton Key Percussion Ensemble, the Rubberband and Looking West Ensemble. Burton can also be heard performing regularly with Something Strange Is Afoot, the Taco Shop Poets and The Drinks. In addition to this work, Burton has a keen interest in politics and will gladly play you his latest shampoo commercial when asked.
