Strange News 2006 - Hubbards grandmother Barbara Wolcott recently informed him that the ghost in his hallway is actually his Great-Uncle Earl. You all remember that Earl has been well documented with the piece Is That You (Earl)?/Dogs Don't Bark At Ghosts on the first SKO recording. Pictures to come.....

and speaking of recordings - Nathan Hubbard is proud to announce the release of his new CD (compositions 1998-2005). Over four years in the making, the double CD showcases a strange look at Hubbards interests in notated music for a wide variety of ensembles. Track listing and ordering info here.

The Skeleton Key Percussion Ensemble spend a cold long night in St. Cecilias Playhouse on Friday December 16th 2005, recording Hubbards new percussion suite for the ghosts/while we sleep. As you can tell from the picture on the right, Hubbard barely made it there he had so much equipment stuffed in his truck. Marcos Fernandes, James Burton, Don Nichols, Curtis Glatter and Nate Atwood all quickly learned, rehearsed and recorded Hubbards pieces along with solo and duo improvs in various locations thru-out the building. More pictures and info to come.....

Skeleton Key Orchestra performed at the Ensenada Jazz Festival on Sunday September 25th 2005. SKO premiered five new compositions + one older piece that has never been performed. The 21 member ensemble featured an extended electronics/keyboards section, a new horn player, all your favorite saxophonists, a killer brass section, the double rhythm section we've been waiting for and NMH conducting. We had a great time, and the crowd was wonderful (standing ovation, demands for an encore). On a sad note, this was Al Scholls last gig with SKO as he is moving to Colorado. Special thanks to Adnan Marquez, Ernesto G. Rosas Montoya and Joaguin Bohigas.

The Skeleton Key Percussion Quartet debuted new music for Southern California a cinemural 1979 by Louis Hock at the Museum of Contemporary Art La Jolla - Thursday September 22nd 2005. The quartet of James Burton, Marcos Fernandes, Curtis Glatter and Nathan Hubbard used floor percussion, electronics and various car parts for the collaboratively scored piece.

Look for more gigs from the percussion quartet in the new year and (hopefully) a CD documenting some of this work. SKPE will be performing on the New Sounds Downtown series on February 19th 2006.

The Skeleton Key Percussion Quartet debuted constant flow (Hubbard) with dancer Rebecca Bryant at Trummerflora's annual Spring Reverb festival in June 2005. This was SKO's third performance at Spring Reverb. While not as logistically insane as last years large ensemble performance with Vinny Golia, the performance was excellent, with the fantastic setting of the Wonderbread building adding quite a bit to the piece. Maybe we'll put it out at some point......

The Rubberband and Looking West Ensemble have recorded in May 05, NMH is currently mixing, editing, overdubbing and making all those big "producer" decisions......

April 2005 - Several members of SKO (NMH, James Burton, Nate Atwood, Steve Vertigan, Al Scholl, Sunshine Vertigan and Ellen Weller) recently took part in a performance and recording of percussionist Curtis Glatters Ensemble Pacifique project. This project also included flutist Emily Hay (LA) and tuba player Mark Weaver (New Mexico).

SKO members Curtis Glatter and Nathan Hubbard recently released their debut recording as a duo, Rivulet, on Circumvention Music. The CD features three extended tracks inspired by filmmakers Carl Dreyer, Jean Cocteau and Akira Kurasawa. Glatter/Hubbard

SKO member Ellen Weller has released a new CD, Spirits, Little Dreams and Improvisations, on Circumvention Music. The recording features SKO members Weller, Marcos Fernandes, Nathan Hubbard and Scott Walton. Also featured are - George Lewis, Vinny Golia, Bertram Turetzky, Robert Zelickman, Lisle Ellis, Bob Weller and many others. more info - www.wellermusic.com
